Printing method

Direct digital printing for branded products.

Direct digital printing transfers ink straight from an inkjet print head onto a compatible flat or slightly curved product. It supports detailed full-colour artwork and close spot-colour approximations.

Method guide

Advantages, limitations and artwork requirements.

Best for detailed full-colour decoration on compatible surfaces, especially when variable data or a white underbase is needed.

Why choose it

Advantages

  • A white ink layer can support artwork on dark products
  • Variable data and individual names may be possible
  • Prints dry immediately
  • Large print areas and near-edge printing are possible on selected flat products
  • Only one setup is normally required regardless of colour count

Before choosing

Limitations

  • Metallic, neon and fluorescent colours cannot be reproduced
  • Print areas are restricted on curved surfaces
  • Larger print areas can cost more
  • Product compatibility must be confirmed

Production ready

Artwork requirements

  • Vector or bitmap artwork can be supplied
  • Bitmap files should be at least 300 DPI at final print size
  • Add 3mm bleed where artwork runs off the product edge
  • Greatrex will confirm print area and white ink requirements

How ordering works

Start with the product, then choose the decoration.

The right print method depends on the product material, shape, print area, logo detail, number of colours, quantity and deadline.

  • Choose the product or send Greatrex the product type you need.
  • Share your logo, quantity, required date and delivery location.
  • Greatrex checks the decoration method and prepares the quote path.

Is Direct digital printing suitable for every product?

No. The product material, shape and print area decide whether direct digital printing is suitable. Greatrex can check this before quoting.

What artwork file should I send?

A vector logo file is best where available. PDF, EPS, AI or SVG files usually give the cleanest result, but Greatrex can review what you have.

Can Greatrex help choose between print methods?

Yes. Send the product, quantity, logo and deadline, and Greatrex can recommend the branding method that best fits the product and budget.
